KENT STAY IN THE NATIONAL OVER 45s PREMIER DIVISION |
|
The second game was against Yorkshire. This proved to be a very tight match. Steve Falla (3) and Keith Palmer (5) were the first matches on. Steve again gave a gritty performance with a 3-1 win. Keith lost 3-0 a tight first and third game which Keith was unlucky to lose. Next on were Clive and Nick. Again Clive showed what a good player he is winning 3-1 never giving his opponent easy points. Nick went down 3-1. Match score 2-2 all down to Cliff to win the match for Kent. What a match the crowd loved it. Cliff had to use his full range of shots against a very tricky opponent who had a good level of fitness and was able to cover all four corners of the court where Cliff often sent him. Cliff won 3-1. Kent wins 3-2. The Sunday morning match was against a depleted Nottingham side which Kent won 5-0. Final Position (1) Kent (2) Yorkshire (3) Berkshire (4) Nottingham. On reflection of the weekend I can only applaud the team for a job well done. Watching the high level of squash over the weekend motivates me to carry on improving my fitness and skills as to be able to carry on helping the team. I feel the sportsmanship, attitude and level of skill shown by all the Counties over the weekend is to be applauded. Thoughts for next year to improve the team performances : (1)
Cliff to avoid colds
and turn up for the County weekends well. |
